Gray's short courses allow students the opportunity to undertake part-time study that can build a broad portfolio and gain experience prior to applying to full-time degree courses. Courses can also be taken as stand-alone learning opportunities.

  1. Ceramics (Foundation)

    Ceramics (Foundation) is an evening course, giving an introduction to ceramic production and techniques.

  2. Ceramics (Intermediate)

    An evening course in ceramic technologies and production techniques. This course is for students having completed the Ceramics Foundation course or having equivalent experience.

  3. Creative Imaging (Foundation) - Apple Macintosh

    Creative Imaging is an evening course for digital media and Photoshop techniques using Apple Macintosh (iMac OS X) computers and scanning software.

  4. Creative Imaging (Intermediate) - Apple Macintosh - Integrated Personal Project

    This course would be suitable for those who have completed the Foundation Creative Imaging course and will provide introductions and refreshers to the Adobe product suite.

  5. Drawing (Foundation)

    The Drawing (Foundation) course is an introduction to drawing techniques.

  6. Drawing (Intermediate) - Visualisation & Mixed Media

    Drawing (Intermediate) - Visualisation & Mixed Media is an evening course for drawing and sketching techniques, ideal for portfolio building.

  7. Drawing - Figure (Foundation and Intermediate)

    This evening course focuses on the practice of observational drawing, directly from a life model, antique casts and the skeleton.

  8. Drawing - Twilight (Foundation and Intermediate)

    This short course involves working directly from the life figure, using a variety of materials and drawing methods.

  9. Fashion / Interior Products (Foundation)

    This course is aimed at complete beginners to pattern cutting and making.

  10. Fashion / Interior Products (Intermediate)

    This course is aimed at students with some pattern manipulation and sewing skills. Explore pattern cutting and adapting, fabric manipulation and product construction suitable for fashion or interior outcomes.

  11. Jewellery (Foundation)

    Familiarise yourself with piercing, drilling, forming, soldering and etching. You will also be introduced to the design process.

  12. Jewellery (Intermediate) - Wax Carving, Casting & Stone Setting

    Explore the properties of casting and wax carving techniques through to the production of small scale jewellery pieces.

  13. Jewellery/Silversmithing (Intermediate) - Colour & Form

    During this course you will have the opportunity to explore more complex techniques of metal forming and colouring.

  14. Kiltmaking (Intermediate) - Traditional menswear kiltmaking

    Learn the craft of traditional menswear kiltmaking. This course is aimed at students with an existing knowledge of hand sewing techniques.

  15. Painting (Foundation)

    This course is sympathetic to the needs of those just beginning to discover and develop their interest in painting.
