Robert Gordon University has set out a path to be the best new University in the UK, with three areas of internationally recognised excellence, by 2012. Specific elements of our vision are to establish:

  • Development ProjectsOne of the best business schools in Scotland, working in areas of direct relevance to the local and regional economies of Aberdeen and north-east Scotland and internationally with the energy sector;
  • Outstanding schools of Arts and Architecture, on a par with the finest in Scotland, underpinning new teaching and research in the Creative Industries;
  • A position internationally as the University of choice for graduates going into a career in the energy sector, with new expertise in renewable technologies on a par with existing excellence in oil and gas;
  • The most attractive campus setting in the UK at Garthdee, with a corridor and walkway along the River Dee providing an environment that will stimulate research as well as inspiring students and staff;
  • Outstanding infrastructure to support the ‘student journey’: sports scholarships, a watersports centre, and facilities for minority sports such as mountaineering and gliding, plus hardship funds, bursaries and a new generation of scholarships for excellence.
