Catherine Sinclair is one of five RGU students who were awarded scholarships this year thanks to funding assistance secured by the RGU Foundation and supported by companies across a range of business sectors.

Catherine, an International Hospitality Management student, was the recipient of the Crerar Hotels Access Scholarship which was made available through a donation from the Crerar Hotels Trust.

The Trust has donated more than £4million to charitable causes over the past 10 years and this scholarship with RGU was established to provide support to undergraduate students studying a discipline related to leisure and tourism.

“Being awarded this scholarship has changed my university life,” said Catherine. “It has helped me to be able to go home and see my family more often, as well as helped me take part in more events.

“I’m very grateful that it will also open more doors for me when I finish my course, since I’m now linked with a hotel group.”

Paddy Crerar, Chairman of The Crerar Hotels Trust and Chief Executive of Crerar Hotels, said: “We are delighted to have made this award to Catherine and look forward to hearing how this funding helps impact her work.

“Crerar Hotels is committed to giving back to the local community to help it grow and thrive and provide opportunities that may otherwise seem out of reach.”

All of the students who are selected for a scholarship are also provided with support from the university’s Department for the Enhancement of Learning, Teaching and Access (DELTA), to help facilitate both academic and personal success.
