Duties and Responsibilities

Carol Air is a lecturer in Management and the Course Leader for the specialist MSc Purchasing and Supply Chain Management course. She teaches in the subject areas of operations management, strategic purchasing and purchasing principles.

Prior to joining Robert Gordon University she worked in a variety of purchasing environments, from high volume electronics to space and military procurement.

Academic Background

Carol has a BA Business Administration, (with distinction), and an MBA with pathway in HRM from Abertay University. A Post Graduate Certificate, Teaching Qualification in Further Education (TQFE) in management, from Stirling University. 

A Diploma in Operations Management from the Institute of Operations Management, and a Graduate Diploma in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management, from The Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply. 

She is currently studying towards a PhD, with completion expected in 2018. Her research considers entrepreneurship as a process, with specific focus on transferrable skills and capitals in creative fields. 

Research Interests

Her areas of research interest include; supply chain management, procurement, social interaction and entrepreneurship.

Professional Memberships

Full member and current congress member of The Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS). 

Congress's role is to represent the interests of the global membership and act as the ‘conscience’ of CIPS by influencing and guiding the Board of Trustees and holding the Board accountable against our Charter and charitable objectives, values and ethos. (cips.org, 2015)
