Welcome . . .
. . . to the Department of Information Management
The Department of Information Management has been rated as the top department in Scotland and second equal in the UK for overall research quality in Library and Information Management in the 2008 UK Research Assessment Exercise. All of our research is recognised as being of, at least, international quality with the majority (60%) rated as internationally-excellent or world-leading. This is based on the 2008 average scores for overall research quality in the subject area. You can find our RAE ranking in The Guardian RAE 2008: ratings for library and information management.
The department has an excellent record of academic success based on the fundamental premise that information and its effective management are central to the social, economic and cultural well-being of society. We are committed to the highest standards of quality and best practice in pedagogy and research. Our ethos is centred around producing reflective, creative and innovative practitioners and researchers in the fields of information and knowledge management.

40 YEARSof Librarianship Education at Robert Gordon University!
This year marked the fortieth anniversary of the first graduations in Librarianship from the university. On 23rd June 2009, we hosted a Friends and Alumni Reception to commemorate this milestone. Some photographs from the evening are available on Flickr.
The Department also hosted the international Information: Interactions and Impact (i3) conference between the 22nd and 25th June, 2009. Some of the presentations from the conference are available on i3 website.
