Information Management Research recognised in 2008 RAE
In the 2008 UK Research Assessment Exercise we are rated as top university in Scotland and second equal (2=) in the UK for overall research quality in Library and Information Management. All of our research is recognised as being of, at least, international quality with the majority rated as Internationally Excellent or world-leading. This is based on the 2008 average scores for overall research quality in the subject area.
Our Research Mission
The Research Mission of the department of Information Management is to develop understanding of the use and impact of information and knowledge, leading to information solutions that empower individuals, organisations and communities. We are committed to:
a. The pursuit of excellence in information and knowledge management research of relevance to social, cultural and economic development;
b. Undertaking research in, and at the intersections of, three user-focused research themes:
c. Effective dissemination and knowledge transfer to inform research, policy and practice. Examples include the upcoming i3 Conference, and also Making Connections projects, and InfusionS.
We undertake research funded by a variety of agencies including ESRC, AHRC, UNESCO, EU, Scottish Government, ITSN, NHS Scotland, and private sector.
