Overview
The Masters in Management is an established part of the Aberdeen Business School portfolio and is updated regularly to reflect current management thinking and practice. It provides students with the skillset required in professional business, combining knowledge and understanding with business and management practice.
This management programme is suitable for graduates without management experience, for those wishing to progress their professional skills and practice and for working managers who require further qualifications.
Its practical relevance is underlined by the fact that the course is recognised by the Chartered Management Institute and used by a range of world-class corporate clients as part of their middle management development programmes.

The benefits of this course are to develop knowledge and understanding combined with business and management skills suitable for professional practice at middle management. This covers general management and its key functional areas and the development of the applied professional skills, practices and techniques in the management environment.You will learn to analyse, plan and undertake effective decision-making, inter-personal communication, including teamwork, and the use of financial and other management information tools.

Management Development
This course is a management development programme in general management and comprises the range of subjects suitable for:
- recent graduates of any discipline who wish to pursue postgraduate studies in management in preparation for a career in this area
- people with limited or no managerial experience who wish to progress to a career in management
- managers who wish to develop their professional practice and require a qualification in management
This course is used by a range of corporate clients as a valuable part of their management development programme.
Funding
Each year a range of Scholarships and Funding are available. For 2009/2010 the university has secured funding from The Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) for a range of postgraduate courses, including this course. You may be eligible to apply for this funding and also be eligible for an income-assessed maintenance grant. If you have children, child care grants are also available.

Career Opportunities
The broad syllabus on the course permits learners to access a wide range of management careers and is useful for those who wish this perspective and the ability to perform in general management or those who wish to keep their options open with regard to their area of final specialisation.
The course has been most successful in providing graduates of a non-business discipline with an entry to careers in business and management. The course has been successful in enhancing the career development opportunities for junior and middle managers.
The course is suitable for both public and private sector organisations.
Typical Student Profile
Applicants with a good honours degree will be considered. For those applicants who do not possess an honours degree, but have a degree or degree equivalent qualification and work experience at a suitable level within an organisation, for an appropriate length of time, will also be considered. We will also consider those with qualifications from an approved professional body.
If you do not meet these requirements and are a non-graduate with insufficient experience in business/management to justify exemption, you may wish to consider access to the course via the Access Foundation in Management Studies.
