Our philosophy to the MBA Oil and Gas Management is that it should provide you with a toolbox of skills combined with a higher level of critical thinking that will stay with you for the rest of your life.

Leadership Workshop
In late May each year the school hosts an MBA leadership workshop. This is an intensive 6 day event with guest speakers from academia and industry. You will experience an outdoor leadership development day and a career leadership event. The attendees also include executives from local businesses.
Study Tour - IAE Aix-en-Provence: Graduate School of Management
The MBA class participates in the study tour to the South of France in June each year. Outline curriculum for study tour:

Day 2 - 5: Business at the Intersection: An interdisciplinary way to look at business
This study tour is delivered by speakers from IAE Aix-en-Provence Graduate Management School, Washington University’s John M. Olin School of Business and the Allen Center for Executive Education at Northwestern University.
MBA Tutoring and Professional Development
During the MBA Oil and Gas Management course, full-time students will be paired with an academic tutor. Your MBA tutor will offer help in areas such as advice on careers, managing work-life, networking and so on. Students will participate in a number of professional development exercises aimed at helping you understand where your career is going, appreciating your personal strengths and weaknesses, and developing and reinforcing core competencies and skills.
Career Counselling
All students have access to one-to-one career counselling through our careers office. The MBA team work hard with the careers office to develop dedicated resources and seminars for MBA students.
MBA Alumni Association
On completion of the MBA, you have the additional benefit of becoming a member of the Aberdeen Business School MBA Alumni Association. The MBA Alumni Association tries to foster a global network through learning, professional development, career sessions and socialising opportunities. Aberdeen Business School has a wide alumni base with chapters in many different countries.
MBA Oil and Gas Management Entry
The MBA Oil and Gas Management is a challenging masters' level programme demanding a combination of intellectual abilities and business experience. To gain admission applicants will normally:
- hold a first degree, at honours level at a top class banding either a first class or second class upper or equivalent*.
- have at least three years professional experience in the Energy industry or related sector. This should include some management responsibility of people, resources, projects or finance.
- provide a resume or curriculum vitae detailing your employment history and main achievements.
- provide a written statement demonstrating your motivation and reasons for undertaking the MBA. You must demonstrate how the degree is applicable to your career, how it will help your personal development and what action you will take to leverage the MBA experience.
- provide two letters of recommendation from managers and others in superior positions within the employing organizations for employed applicants. Self-employed applicants or CEO/Presidents should submit letters either from business partners, respected individuals or board level referees.
- agree to provide information necessary to maintain and develop the reputation of the programme through external accreditation and rankings.
- be required to pass an interview. The interview is aimed at evaluating the candidate’s personal attributes deemed necessary for success in the MBA. These attributes include ambition, motivation, commitment, communication and interpersonal skills.
- where appropriate be able to demonstrate competence in written and oral English**.

* If you do not have a first degree but have 5 years or more senior management experience you may be considered – please contact the MBA course leader to discuss.
**If you are an overseas student who has studied a degree in the UK, Australia, United States or Canada the English language requirement will be waived. Candidates from West Africa can demonstrate English language competence by providing a copy of a Senior School Leaving Certificate with the application.
Applicants without an honours degree may be allowed access to the MBA Oil and Gas Management degree through the Graduate Certificate in Management course:

MBA Oil and Gas Management Tuition Fees
The fees for the full-time programme has been set at £14,800.
The fees for the distance learning and part-time executive course have been set at £11,438 payment of which can be spread over the duration of the programme as follows:
Year 1 £ 4,700
Year 2 £ 4,700
Year 3 £ 2,034
Tuition fees can be paid by instalments in any one year. You can pay a 40% deposit followed by a payment of 10% each month until the balance is paid. The University accepts credit card payments and bank transfers. Fees are reviewed annually and are therefore subject to change.
The above fees are for 2010/11.

Additional Funding Opportunities for Home Students Resident in Scotland
The Scottish Government has recognised the MBA Oil and Gas Management Degree as a course to receive priority funding for Part-time / Online postgraduate students. The Scottish Government will contribute £3,400 to the MBA Oil and Gas Management degree. The funding is restricted in terms of places. To be eligible for this funding you must be a home student resident in Scotland with an Unconditional Offer. All requests of interest for this funding must be made to the Robert Gordon University admissions office.
