From Professor Ferdinand von Prondzynski
Whether you are a prospective or existing student, a member of staff, a researcher, a business person or entrepreneur, or a local resident, our university has something to offer.
Robert Gordon University has a heritage going back 250 years, and it was granted university status in 1992. Since then the university has gone from strength to strength, proactively engaging with businesses in the development of many of its degree courses and meeting regional and national needs at a time of constant change and development. As a result we have a reputation for producing graduates that are highly sought after by employers.
Today Robert Gordon University delivers more than 300 courses to over 15,000 full and part-time students from 120 countries. Over the last decade we have consistently had one of the best records of any UK university for graduate-level employment and we were quoted in The Times Good University Guide 2013 as the best modern university in the UK - for the fifth year running.
While such accolades are pleasing there is never scope for resting on our laurels. A £120 million construction project at our Garthdee campus was completed in 2013 and provides our students and staff with state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities. This includes a new library, and formal and informal learning and social spaces for students. This first phase of development gives the university and our local community some of the best facilities in the UK. A second phase of construction has now begun with new facilities for our remaining Garthdee schools due to open in 2015/16.
The university has invested significantly in research activities, dramatically increasing both the number and quality of our researchers and there is world leading work being undertaken in the university's key research areas.
Three research institutes build on this success and further develop the university's research standing.

Higher education is an adventure that broadens the mind and equips both learners and teachers to contribute to the community, to generate wealth for the benefit of all, and to ensure that the value of scholarship is understood and appreciated and its benefits enjoyed by society. Robert Gordon University invites all those who wish to contribute to these goals to join in this adventure. If you choose to come here, or if you decide to work with us in any way, I look forward to meeting you in person.
