David Briggs
Executive Director (Human Resources)
Biography
David, originally from Liverpool, studied Social Sciences at Salford University where he was sponsored as a pilot by the RAF and achieved proficiency to fly solo. Following graduation, he left the RAF and took up his first appointment in personnel and human resource management. During his early career he worked with British Gas and the North West Water Authority before his first HR Manager appointment with the Irvine New Town Development Corporation.
He remained in this post for 9 years, during which he completed an MSc in Human Resource Management from the University of Strathclyde, leading to his appointment as Director of Human Resources for the Strathkelvin District Council. This was followed by his appointment as Director of Human Resources and Organisation Development with Stirling Royal Infirmary NHS Trust and a short period managing the NHS Management Development Unit in Edinburgh on secondment, before joining RGU in 1997.
David is married and has two sons and a step-daughter. He enjoys hill-walking and mountain climbing (which has taken him on treks and ascents around the world, including Morocco, Canada and the Causcaus mountains of Southern Russia) and has supported Liverpool FC since childhood.
