Andrew McCreath

Biography
Originally from Edinburgh, Andrew moved to Aberdeen to study Botany at the University of Aberdeen, graduating with a BSc in 1978. After a short period of research at St Andrews University, where he was awarded an MSc, Andrew started a career in computing with the NCR Corporation in Dundee. After 4 years in Fife, Andrew returned to Aberdeen and has held a number of positions both in IT companies in the Aberdeen area and in industry. Notably, Andrew spent 11 years with Wiggins Teape where he was responsible for building up a complete set of IT and process monitoring systems to support the manufacturing operation in a local Paper Mill. Before joining the Robert Gordon University in November 1999, Andrew worked for SAIC, an American based global science and technology company, where he was responsible for providing application systems support across the UK for BP Amoco and other clients.
Andrew is a Director and the current Chairman of AbMAN Ltd - a consortium of institutions in Grampian with responsibility for running the regional network which Connects to JANET and the Internet , and he serves on the JISC Audit and JISC Infrastructure and Resources Committees nationally. Andrew is a member of HEIDS (Higher Education IT Directors Scotland) and has been a Director of ScotlandIS - the Scottish association for IT and Media Companies, and Viscom Ltd, a media company providing interactive multimedia resources to the offshore aviation industry.
Andrew is married and has two teenage children. His free time is spent mostly with the family and looking after the garden, but when time permits he enjoys travelling and walking.
