Ken was appointed as the founding Chief Executive of Aberdeen Foyer in 1996 and has led the organisation ever since.

Ken Milroy MBEThe Foyer has successfully established a range of services and activities, primarily aimed at alleviating and preventing youth homelessness and unemployment. Today the Foyer operates across multiple sites throughout Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire delivering a range of services, often on behalf of local, Scottish or UK governments. The Foyer also operates a number of businesses through its trading arm, Foyer Enterprise, currently these are Foyer Graphics and Foyer Works. The Foyer also operates the learner driving company Roadwise.

Ken's earlier career was largely in local government working in a number of community development and regeneration roles with former Grampian Regional Council and in the voluntary sector in Strathclyde.

Ken joined the Board of Aberdeen College in 2003 and served as the Board's Chair from 2009 to 2012 when he was appointed by the Scottish Government as the Regional Lead for the Further Education for Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. In this capacity Ken went on to lead the regionalisation of further education in the region, resulting in the merger of Aberdeen and Banff & Buchan Colleges to create North East Scotland College. Ken was appointed by the new college Board as it's first Chair.

Out with his work with the Foyer and the college sector, Ken has held non-executive positions with other organisations particularly those supporting community and voluntary sector development and initiatives. These have included Aberdeen Council of Voluntary Organisations, Transition Extreme and the UK Foyer Federation. He currently serves as a Board member of the Social Enterprise Academy and as a member of the SCDI North East Committee.

Ken is married with three daughters and lives in Aberdeenshire.
