Following education at Robert Gordon’s College, Hugh graduated from Aberdeen University with a degree in Economics and Accounting, and then joined EY in Glasgow where he qualified as a CA in 1981.
He joined Aberdeen Asset Management PLC as the 9th employee in 1987 and for the last 28 years has worked in the areas of both M&A and Private Equity, and has been Head of Acquisitions for the last 7 years, project managing such acquisitions as Scottish Widows, the RBS alternatives business plus certain asset management businesses from Deutsche Bank and Credit Suisse. Hugh retired from full-time employment on 26 June 2015.
He has in the past been a Director of Grampian Enterprise, a member of the NE Board of the Scottish Council for Development and Industry and was for 12 years a Director of Aberdeen Football Club.
