April is a postgraduate student of the MSc Corporate Communications and Public Affairs masters’ program in the RGU School of Creative and Cultural Business.
She holds an Associate Degree in English/Psychology and a Diploma in Resort and Hotel Management, both from Selkirk College in British Columbia. During her time at Selkirk, she was the External Coordinator on the Student Union Executive, Managing Editor of the Selkirk Sentinel student newspaper, and was a student member on both the Resort and Hotel Management Advisory Committee and the Selkirk College Board of Governors. April is a 2016 Saltire Scholarship award recipient.
She has been a freelance writer and editor since 2002, and is the owner of Subtext Communications. In 2010, April was Editor of Visitors' Choice Publications in Vancouver, where she successfully managed the redesign of the magazine's content and branding for its 21 regional tourism guides. In 2012, April was recruited by the Selkirk College Communications and Marketing department to assist in the College's website redesign. Her writing and communications experience includes print and online published works in journalism, corporate, non-profit, tourism and academic sectors.
