Services
The team deliver a range of professional services related to the promotion of the University overseas and the active recruitment of international students.
Activities include:
- Attending overseas education fairs
- Selecting and managing our FT international agent network
- Working with local education representatives in certain countries
- Helping to identify new opportunities for RGU in an increasingly global education environment.
- Managing and delivering a significant international student exchange programme
- Managing and delivering FT Recruitment international on campus recruitment
- Providing advice and consultancy on distance learning opportunities but led strategically by Marketing

Meet the team
Mick Rash - Head of International and Overseas Partnerships
Michael joined RGU in early 2007. He has extensive international experience which has been gained over several years whilst working for HM Forces, the Diplomatic Service, running his own international business, as a former Senior International Marketing Officer and also as a former Business Development Manager within Univation.
He is now responsible for overall management and the day to day running of the International Office including our Erasmus and other Exchange Programmes.

Michelle MacFadyen - Regional Manager
Michelle joined RGU in September 2008 from one of the UKs leading graduate employers, KPMG, where she was responsible for the firm's recruitment marketing activities in Scotland. Becoming one of the new Senior International Programmes Officers was a return to Higher Education for Michelle, who started her career in UK recruitment at the University of Paisley.
Michelle studied Economic and Social History at the University of Glasgow during which time she did an Erasmus exchange for one year at the Stockholm University and followed her studies with a period in Japan. Michelle is responsible for managing the International Office's relationship with Hobsons and as market responsibility for Europe, South Asia and North America.

Julie Deighton - Regional Manager
Julie joined the International Office at RGU in October 2009 bringing with her a wealth of marketing experience from having worked for Proserv, with bases in Aberdeen, Houston and Perth (Australia). Prior to that Julie worked for a leading marketing agency in London, starting as a graduate training trainee and progressing to become a New Business/Data Planner.
Julie studied at the University of St Andrews and completed her postgraduate qualification at RGU. Julie's responsibilities include West Africa and the Middle East.

Jamie Hastings - Regional Manager
Jamie joined the international office at RGU in November 2011 following 2 years in a self-employed role working within the business-to-business sales & marketing sector in Aberdeen. Prior to this Jamie worked in various hospitality sales and business development roles and has worked in places such as France, Australia, USA and London.
Jamie studied at Robert Gordon University and completed a BA (Hons) in Hotel and Hospitality Management. Jamie’s responsibilities include West Africa and Central Asia and internally Jamie looks after the pre-sessional English programme and is the international contact for the faculty of health and social care.

Julia Kennedy - European and Overseas Exchanges Co-ordinator
Julia joined RGU in March 1996 and worked in the European Office where she was involved in administering the ESF, Erasmus, Tempus and Leonardo Programmes. In January 2009, she moved to the International Office, where she is responsible for the Erasmus Programme and Overseas Exchanges.
