RGU LGBT+ Staff Network
The RGU LGBT+ Staff Network aims to improve the experience of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender staff at RGU.
Founded in 2014, the staff network empowers LGBT+ staff to meet, share information, provide support and through establishing a visible presence on campus ensures that the university remains a vibrant and inclusive environment in which all staff can reach their full potential without the fear of discrimination.
What does LGBT+ Mean?
LGBT+ stands for Lesbian, Gay Bisexual, Transgender. The’+’ covers all other types of sexual and gender identities.
Who is the network for?
The Network is open to all staff of all sexual orientations and gender identities. We welcome those who do not identify as LGBT+ but would like to show their support for the LGBT+ community by being an ally.
Are you a Student?
We welcome Postgraduate and Research students join the staff network. There is also an RGU LGBT+ Student Society+ which is open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students.

LGBT History Month in February
LGBT History month aims to promote equality and diversity by increasing the visibility of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (“LGBT”) people.

Rainbow Film Nights
This monthly event aims to create a platform to screen movies with LGBT+ themes to RGU staff, students, alumni and the local community promoting equality and diversity and raising the issues faced by Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) people.

RGU will host a free screening of ‘Carol’ (15) as part of the monthly RGU LGBT+ Staff Network Rainbow Film Nights.

RGU will host a free screening of ‘Basic Instinct’ (15) as part of the monthly RGU LGBT+ Staff Network Rainbow Film Nights.

Coffee on Campus
The network meet regularly to share experience of being LGBT+ and provides a space to discuss campaigns or initiatives that the group wishes to promote or challenge. To join us for coffee please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Coffee on campus will take place on the following dates: Wednesday 29 November, Wednesday 13 December, Monday 15 January, Tuesday 20 February, Thursday 22 March, Thursday 19 April, Thursday 24 May and Thursday 14 June.
A straight ally or heterosexual ally is a heterosexual and cisgender person who supports equal civil rights, gender equality, LGBT social movements, and challenges homophobia, biphobia and transphobia. In session 2017-18 the staff network will work to recruit a straight ally from the Executive group and from RGU Staff to actively support the initiatives led by the LGBT+ Staff Network

Rainbow Lanyards - Show your Pride #PrideonCampus
The University will purchase rainbow lanyards with the University logo on to promote LGBT+ Pride at RGU. These will be issued to staff or students who either identify as LGBT+ or are a straight ally. If you would like a lanyard please email firstname.lastname@example.org
