"Studying for an MSc in Project Management completely changed my way of thinking and provided me with diverse perspectives to understand project management throughout the entire life cycle of a project."

These are words of Jeremy Marker who was one of our distance learning students on the course and graduated with an MSc in Project Management in 2012. He speaks about his study on the course.

"Because I left school with no formal education, I had to work extra hard to progressed my career, needless to say the lack of formal qualifications presented many barriers. Therefore at the age of 40 I studied my working profession and obtained technical qualifications; following this I applied to Robert Gordon University to study MSc in Project Management  to enhance my project management knowledge; RGU assessed my application on my working experience. I was very grateful that RGU recognized my career progression as an integral part of the assessment process – thus I was offered an unconditional position on the course as a distant learner.

At the start of the course RGU displayed professionalism by grouping students and leading website forums, they also excelled with excellent response time feedback on course work and questions. The course literature was straightforward and structured to match each core module, which was designed into a three year programme, with the third year all students undertook a research project under the supervision of a member of academic staff.

The course leader/coordinators revealed expert tutoring expertise and a comprehensive knowledge of project management, which underpinned the student’s learning requirement for each module. As to the distance learning nature of the course, students had cultural differences; this inevitably offered a unique paradigm of learning, as students were culturally examining the international environment of project management; each bringing their own country’s unique perspective and cultural problems to the table via forum discussions.

Studying for the course completely changed my way of thinking and provided me with diverse perspectives to understand project management throughout the entire life cycle of a project. My status within the arena of project management has in both career opportunities and status; I would therefore strongly encourage people who want to learn both theoretical and practical implications of project management issues to take the course at RGU. I am convinced that if you are planning to work within arena of project management, you are coming to the right place. I am glad I choose RGU to undertake the course and I am very fortunate to have had this experience."
